Cricket Club Brussels) ASBL invites you all for Independence Cup 2019 (Tennis
ball cricket tournament) to be played at SCG (Schuman Cricket Ground) in
Brussels and Wemmel cricket ground (WCG) in Belgium. Let’s play with the spirit
and have fun.
- Each league match will have 8 overs (30 mins/innings)
- Qualifying stage will be a contest of 8 overs (30 mins/innings)
- Final will be a contest of 10 overs (50 mins/innings)
- No breaks during the innings.
- If an innings is not completed within the stipulated time, then
the team loses 1 point for every 5 mins delay. - The tournament organizing committee can adjust the schedule and
format if required based on the weather forecast and other circumstances. - Organizers will provide only the cricket balls (1 ball per match).
- Each win earns 10 points during
league stage, 4 bonus points will be shared between winning and losing
team as mentioned in the below matrix.

- The team will have 11 players and the
innings is played for 10 wickets but at any given point of time, only
10 fielders are allowed on the field including Bowler and wicketkeeper. (applicable only at Schuman ground. Wemmel ground has no such restrictions.) - Each team can provide a maximum of 15
players and they should be part of only 1 team. In case if any player
found to be played in 2 teams, then it will be considered as a forfeit. - A runner for a batsman when batting is not
permitted. - Umpires
decision is final - Only the
team captains are allowed to discuss with umpires/coordinators for any
disputes on the ground. - Chucking
is not allowed. In case if it happens, it will be decided by the
umpires/organizing committee and bowler will be warned for the first time.
If it repeats, the bowler is not allowed to bowl in that match and
also from 2nd time onwards, it will be considered as NO
ball till the umpires decide to put the bowler off from the attack. - Umpire
Guidelines – - The
bowler will be given a warning if the ball is bowled above shoulder and
will also be called WIDE BALL if there is no contact of
bat is made. - If the
bowler bowls one or more bouncers (above the shoulder height) after 1st warning,
then it will be called as NO-BALL and it’s a FREE HIT. The On field Umpires will take a call on this and their decision is final. - The
beamers above waist level (in standing position of the batsman) is a NO
ball and it’s a FREE-HIT. - Main
umpire will declare a NO Ball for delivery bowled outside the box of
Bowling Crease (Side + Front Crease) à FREE-HIT is
applicable. - If
there are more than 10 fielders are noticed (including keeper and bowler), NO-ball will be declared. à FREE-HIT is applicable. - If the
wicketkeeper catches the ball before the line of the wicket (If the ball is not touched by the batsmen (body or bat)). It will be declared a NO
ball à FREE-HIT is applicable. - Run-out
rules – depending on whether bails are
available, the below rules will apply - Bails
available – the same international rules apply. Meaning, if the
bails and/or stumps fall down, you need to hold the stumps and hit them
with the ball, else you can directly hit the stumps. - Bails
not available – only if the stumps fall down, you need to hold the
stumps and hit them with the ball, else you can directly hit the stumps. - During FREE-HIT,
the on-field captain can change the field positions only if the batsman rotates the strike. Else, he will not be allowed to change the fielding. - Match
fixing is not allowed at any stage. If any team(s) is found to fix the match, then the team(s) will be immediately disqualified. The disciplinary committee will take necessary action and their decision is final. - There
will be NO LBW decisions. Rest of the rules regarding Wide, leg byes, byes
and overthrows apply. - Bowling
Limitation – - League
and semifinals, 2 overs max for a bowler - Final, 3
overs max for 1 bowler. - Wide /
No Ball will be an extra delivery with 1 Run as normal cricket rule. - Run Out
/ Catch is still valid if the ball touches the Tree(s) in the ground - Direct
hit to the man-made construction (castle) nearby the long-off
boundary is 4 runs, if the ball pitches before then runs must be earned by running between the wickets. Same rules apply for over-throw as
well. (Applicable only for the games played at Schuman) - Ball
going inside the fenced bushes, either in full or rolled through will be granted 1 run (declared, no change in striking) – Same rules applies for over-throw. If it touches the bushes, but doesn’t go inside the bush, then runs have to be earned by running between the
wickets. (Applicable only for the games played at Schuman) - On-field
umpires will decide on the timings and their decision will be final,
taking in account of all on field delays. - Super
Over: - Super
over is applicable in all matches. - If both
teams close their innings with the same total, there will be a Super
over. If still tied, the team scoring high number of boundaries will be
awarded the winner. - the
team which lost fewer wickets will qualify for next round. In case of
tie, then more the team who hit a greater number of 6s will qualify. If
the number of 6s are same, then we count number of 4s. - If
still tied on the boundaries count, then a coin toss will be done to decide
the winner. - The
bonus points are shared equally between winning and losing team in case
of tie i.e. 2 points each. - Super Over: [Team batting second in the
main match will bat first in the super over] - A team
gets to pick 3 batsmen and 1 bowler for the Super over. - Inning
gets over in case 6 deliveries are completed or any 2 batsmen get out.
(Same rules as for last over of an innings apply for the super over). - There
are 10 teams divided into two groups and all teams will play a match
against each other in the same group. - After
the league stage, the Top 2 from each group goes to the Semi-Final. - In Semi
Final round, Group Topper will play with another Group Runner up - Winner
goes to Final. - Final
will be of 10 overs a side. - In case
more than two teams have tied based on points, the net run rate will come
into the picture. Run rate is calculated based on the following
formula. - (Total
runs scored in the group stage/total overs played – total runs conceded /
total overs bowled). - The
team with higher net run rate will be promoted to next stages. - Statistics
will be calculated only for group stage. Prizes will be announced
accordingly. - If a
team gets all out before utilizing the full quota of overs, the run rate
will be calculated as runs scored for the full quota and not the number
of overs utilized. - Teams
NOT available for the match will forfeit (up to 10 minutes delay can be considered for the team to play to match). The forfeited team will get 0
points and the opponent will get winning points + 2 bonus points. The same rule is applicable for the FINAL. - In case
of a Super over (Maximum two wickets) the team who scores more runs in
super over will be declared as the winner.
- The
disciplinary committee will take the final decision at any point of time
in case of any disputes. - The
disciplinary committee consists of organizers + umpires + all team
captains. - All the
teams are expected to be at the ground before 30 mins of start of play. - Based on
the progress of the games, the semis and final can be organized on next
weekend. - Ground
address will be shared in whatsapp group created with captains of all
participating teams.
Important message for all participants:
Please ensure the below and I request all the captains to communicate your guys.
1) Do not throw any litter, please use the bins.
2) Last time we received a complaint from neighbors for making a lot of noise, so please respect; The police came to the ground.
3) We will provide water, but please ensure to use it wisely & don’t waste it.
4) Request all the teams to be at the venue 30 mins prior to the start of the game. The toss will be done outside the pitch to save time.
5) No arguments with other teams, umpires. In case of any issues, only the captains are allowed to approach the organizing committee to discuss further.
6)The disciplinary panel consists of captains, umpires, organizing committee. If needed we will involve to be fair.
